The first ever French Energy Savings Competition between cities will be launched in 2021, with the support of the Ministries of Ecological Transition and the Ministry of National Education, Youth and Sports.

● The Championship will have 20 cities and their municipal buildings running against each other, who will have to reduce their energy consumption as much as possible for one year.

● Lyon, Rennes, Beauvais, Besançon, Nevers, Gisors have confirmed their participation.

● The competition will be broken down into 4 other categories, which will run in parallel: a “junior” championship (middle schools, high schools), a university championship, and two corporate (buildings) and automotive (corporate fleets) challenges.

● The competition is launched by IFPEB (French Institute for Building Performance), which has organized the parent competition since 2014 (CUBE 2020) in office buildings, with a methodology of collective commitment to concrete eco-gestures and adjustments and a rigorous measurement of performance.
